sensitive files in international transactions are a growing concern for corporate executives. These files, usually referred to as hypersensitive as they are the crown jewels of a business and can pose greater risk if they fall into the wrong hands. No matter if it’s financial data including personal data, trade secrets, any type of sensitive file can become an easy victim for cybercriminals.
The loss, misuse or unauthorised access to sensitive information could negatively impact the national security, the conduct of federal programs or the privacy to which individuals are entitled under the Privacy Act. See also controlled non-classified and classified information (CUI).
Information of moderate sensitivity is legally required to be protected but whose disclosure would only cause minor harm for the people or organizations concerned. Examples include building plans, donor records, information about intellectual property, details about IT services, visas, and other travel documents, as well as security information.
A global company must identify which of its data falls within the PHI of HIPAA or GDPR and to ensure it’s stored and transferred efficiently.
