Bitdefender and Avira provide top-of-the-line malware protection that includes real-time protection and ransomware protection. They’re also both really easy to use, so even novices to cybersecurity can be up and running in no time. Additionally, both offer many additional features, including VDR business an VPN and file shredder, additional privacy protections and one-click optimization.
Avira and Bitdefender have both received high scores from independent testing laboratories. However, in this test I’d give the advantage to Bitdefender because of its superior performance in the AV Comparatives’ Performance Test, which tests how much impact security software can have on a computer’s speed. Its low score means that it operates in the background without impacting your computer’s performance — unlike some of its rivals.
The AV-Comparatives test also measures how much of an impact each product’s features have on the performance of the system when performing typical computer tasks like browsing websites, downloading files and copying files. Bitdefender was the only competitor to pass the test with a perfect score, while Avira came in at just a few points behind.
Both companies provide a high level of customer service. Avira offers a useful knowledge base and YouTube channel, while Bitdefender offers a comprehensive support hub, including a phone number with live chat, email support and video tutorials. The support hub is well-organized by product, allowing you to quickly find the assistance you need.
